TAMAT - Third newsletter on Educational Workshop with the Injawara Board Game!

Tamat NGO has organized two Educational Workshop in which a prototype of the Injawara Board Game has been used as a didactic tool to raise awareness and stimulate the discussion. The first meeting has been conducted on the 9th of April with the young participants of the European project "Comenius" - "We all smile in the same language" - Intercultural Dialogue for an Active Citizenship Education (ETHIC), upon request of its manager. The project represent a multilateral partnership focused on Intercultural Dialogue and the acquisition, by young people, of an Active European Citizenship, involving 10 schools from 9 European countries: Italy, Germany, Latvia, Slovenia, Romania, Croatia, Cyprus, Turkey and Poland. After a global overview on the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations, the 50 youngsters have been divided in groups and...the game started! The level of interest and participation of the youth to the play test has been really satisfactory, making us understand that we are on the right way.

CARDET - Newsletter 4 - European Year of Development 2015

CARDET, after an invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday 13th May, attended a meeting on the National Program for the European Year of Development 2015, where it presented the following projects:

“Intercultural Joint Awareness Raising – In.J.Awa.Ra” is a EuropeAid project which promotes the intercultural dialogue among the Global Youth

“Make the Link”, a EuropeAid funded project, which envisions integrating issues around Technology Justice and Sustainable Development into the Design and Technology, Physics and Home Economics curricula of the formal education in Cyprus

“Global Campus”, a EuropeAid project taking a non-formal, global learning, experiential approach that aims to increase the awareness, critical understanding and informed, constructive action for development of University students and other key stakeholders in the EU.

The event was organized in the framework of the EU Member States national program for the European Development Year 2015, which will be presented to the European Commission the coming September. In the meeting there was exchange of ideas on the establishment of the Cyprus National Development Program for 2015.  Participants to the event were NGOs representatives, other public services and academia.

Global Citizenship and Development ‘Think global, act local!’
What is Global Citizenship?      
How global citizenship fits in development principles?
How is Global Citizenship expressed?

The 21st century has presented us with new opportunities and challenges and requires a different approach to education. In our fast-changing world, it is necessary for young people to acquire the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to adapt. Global citizenship will help to ensure that young people are able to play a full and active part in society within the wider world.

These questions and many more will be answered to the workshop organized by CARDET (www.cardet.org) with ACCEPT in the framework of “Intercultural Joint Awareness Raising – In.J.Awa.Ra” project which promotes the intercultural dialogue among the Global Youth (www.injawara.eu).

The primary objective of the workshops is to empower youngsters, to provide them a platform to reflect and discuss their vision on development cooperation, to give them the tools to understand the dynamics of development cooperation, to network with other youngsters in Europe and in Developing Countries, and to build their capacity to actively work in awareness raising and advocacy for sustainable development. 

 The workshop is for FREE. New skills in an interactive workshop delivered from professional trainers.

Who: Young people and practitioners interested in development, global education, and global citizenship.

CARDET - Newsletter 5 - Sustainable Development in educational systems of states

CARDET after an invitation from the Ministry of Education and Culture, on Wednesday 30th of April, attended a presentation on development on Education and Sustainable Development, where it presented the following projects:

- “Intercultural Joint Awareness Raising – In.J.Awa.Ra” is a EuropeAid project which promotes the intercultural dialogue among the Global Youth

- “Make the Link”, a EuropeAid funded project, which envisions integrating issues around Technology Justice and Sustainable Development into the Design and Technology, Physics and Home Economics curricula of the formal education in Cyprus

- “Global Campus”, a EuropeAid project taking a non-formal, global learning, experiential approach that aims to increase the awareness, critical understanding and informed, constructive action for development of University students and other key stakeholders in the EU.

The presentation focused on the new data set for Education Sustainable Development, after the decade 2004-2014, in the basis which member states are invited to orientate their educational systems in relation to Education, Environment and Sustainable Development. The event attended NGO representatives and education related public services. 

CARDET - Newsletter 2 - participates in an event organized by the Cyprus Youth Council

The Research and Development Centre CARDET participated to the event “Opportunities for Youth to learn, develop their skills ad gain work experience in the EU” organized by the Cyprus Youth Council on Tuesday, 18 March 2014 at the University of Cyprus. The aim of the event was to inform young people, in an interactive way, on the opportunities offered by the EU related to Education, Employment, Volunteerism, skills development, lifelong learning etc.

Researchers from CARDET attended the event presenting CARDET’s work and focus as well as some of the running projects of the organization. More specifically, the projects presented were:
